Starting with a single landing strip in 1920, the airport has seen plenty of changes and improvements over the years. Passenger service was first introduced in 1929, and international service was first offered in 1948, when the airport was officially named Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. With the opening of Lindbergh Terminal (Terminal 1) in 1962, the airport’s capacity skyrocketed, with 4.1 million travelers by 1967.
Taxis and Car Services
If you’re traveling through Terminal 1, you’ll find taxis on the Tram Level (Level T). From there, signs direct you one level up to the taxi starter booth, where airport staff will assist you. For ridesharing/car services, the pick-up location is on Level 2 of the Green Parking Ramp, above the Ground Transportation Center.
For Terminal 2, taxis are available at the Ground Transport Center, which is located on the ground level of the Purple Parking Ramp, directly across from the terminal. Ridesharing/car services use the same pick-up location.

- Terminal 1 (parking is connected via skyway) — $5 for the first hour, then $3/hour
- Terminal 2 (parking is connected via skyway) — $5 for the first hour, then $3/hour
